Online Public Relations

TMA tends toward more of a PR orientation.  The Internet is increasingly “beating” traditional media to the story, as articles often are posted online prior to print or broadcast.  In some cases, stories go viral long before the morning news.  Likewise, what may normally have been a one day story may turn into a month(s) long media event fueled by blogging, online communities, bulletin boards and text messaging. 

Internet Public Relations is much more than posting news articles to online media outlets.  It's managing the flow and overflow of messaging.  Identifying first tier influencers, isolating antagonists, redirecting, and consensus building all become multi-faceted tasks in the online space. Audience diversity and often anonymous public opinions require careful strategic messaging and relentless execution.   Implementing a PR strategy requires considerable knowledge of all the online channels, how they are used, who accesses them, and when they are accessed and why.  This is what we call Strategic Online Channeling.
